Tree ferns need a lot of water

Outside, in the winter garden or in the apartment, tree ferns are a nice alternative to other plants. Read here how to take care of the tree ferns that you have in your home.

Plants need a lot of water
The filigree leaves of the ferns grow directly from the trunk. The plant can grow very large and loves it when it can stand in the shade. Like outdoor ferns that also prefer shade. Since the original home of the ferns is New Zealand and Australia, the plants always need enough water. They suck this into their trunk and behave similarly to mosses, which also absorb and store water. This means that you always have to keep them moist. If the site is sunny, the ferns need more water than usual.

Don't forget to pour
If you accidentally water too little, the leaves can die very quickly. But this is not a broken leg, because new fronds quickly form from the trunk. However, you should not forget about watering permanently. If you go on vacation, you should ask your neighbors or friends if they could water the plants in your apartment and in the garden. Tree ferns are best wintered at temperatures below 10 degrees.
